Monday's Message of Hope

Waiting on His Name!

Hello, my dear friend!

Today brings us to the last verse we’ll look at with the meaning of bind together by twisting; gather together; patiently wait:

I will praise You forever, because You have done it;
And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good. (Psalm 52:9, NKJV)

Here, the psalmist sings of waiting on the name of the Lord because His name is good. We might ask which name he would be referring to, as there are literally hundreds of names ascribed to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit throughout the books of the Bible. And all of them are good! Some of my favorite include:

  • Your Exceedingly Great Reward (Genesis 15:1)
  • Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2)
  • Balm of Gilead (Jeremiah 8:22)
  • Habitation of Justice (Jeremiah 50:7)
  • Man of War (Exodus 15:3)

But, what exactly does waiting on God’s name accomplish on a practical level? Good question. I believe the waiting opens our hearts and souls to more understanding and revelation of the nature of God. Consequently, our lives are transformed, and we become more Christ-like. What a wonderful opportunity we have before us!
