Monday's Message of Hope

Hello, dear friend
My Bible reading portion today had me in John 3, a chapter most of us are well-acquainted with, especially John 3:16:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
However, the first part of verse 18 captured my attention:
He who believes in Him [Jesus, the Son of God] is not condemned . . .
Believers are not condemned. No guilt. No shame. No humiliation. No condemnation. Simply because we believe in Jesus, the only begotten son of God, our Savior. Talk about a reason to shout hallelujah!
Now no condemnation does not mean we don’t deal with sin issues. Not by a long shot. But there’s a huge difference between condemnation from the enemy and conviction from our precious Holy Spirit. Condemnation leads to guilt—I can’t believe I did something so stupid!; shame—How could I have let myself get caught up in that!; humiliation—I will never be able to face them again. Our arch adversary uses these thoughts and more to keep us in bondage.
Conviction, on the other hand, leads to repentance—God, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness and renew a right spirit within me. This heartfelt prayer leads Jesus, through Holy Spirit, to bring us to a place of victory.
And it starts with believing in Jesus. So simple. So profound. Let’s start this week with a renewed sense of freedom from condemnation. All because we believe in him.
