Monday's Message of Hope

Hello, dear friend
What do you do when God doesn’t answer your prayer? I’m not talking about finding a great parking place or getting a good buy on a computer or getting a surprise money gift. Please know that I’m not discounting any of them. I’ve had answers to those prayers myself.
The unanswered prayers I’m referring to are life changing, even life and death at times. And I have to wrestle with this question more than I want to—more than I ever thought I would have to. Because the honest truth is this: Some of our prayers don’t get answered. Loved ones die way before their time from disease or accidents; financial burdens lead to homelessness way too often; fractured relationships remain unresolved; and the list can go on.
I also know that according to Scripture, God’s promises are “yes and amen.” I fully believe that. But what happens when the promises he made to us personally don’t end with a “yes and amen?” Looking at my own life, after years of praying for my marriage. and with many, many “yes and amen” promises, the day came when it ended.
Today I read Psalm 124, and I sensed God’s heart for us in this passage. One verse in particular stood out:
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:8, NKJV)
And I realized that is the answer—the name of the Lord. His name is above every name, every knee has to bow before his name, it’s a strong tower we can run into. His Name. Jesus. Before he left this round ball suspended in space, Jesus gave us his name. To help us, to protect us, to guide us . . . and to heal our broken hearts when we don’t see the “yes and amen.”
I’m sure you have your own painful situations where it appears your prayers weren’t answered. Let’s take this week to worship and praise the most beautiful, powerful name in all creation—Jesus. And look for the help that is already on its way.
