Monday's Message of Hope

Crowned with His Goodness!

Hello, dear friend

Even though we’re not far into the new year, I felt prompted to go to Psalm 65:11 for this week’s message:

You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance. (NKJV)

Let’s ponder on that. God crowns this year, 2022, with his goodness. While I originally thought I would focus on the Lord’s goodness, I was drawn instead to the word “crown.” Of course, I had to check out Strong’s concordance, and oh my—what a treasure in this word that King David chose hundreds of years ago. It means “to encircle for attack or protection.” How profound!

Let’s look at that verse again with this revelation: God’s goodness literally encircles this year with a two-pronged purpose—spiritual warfare against the enemy and divine protection from the enemy.

I don’t know about you, but as I’m typing, I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around what this verse really means. To put it another way, God’s goodness surrounds all 365 days of the year 2022 to go on the offense against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places (see Ephesians 6:12) while providing divine protection from an attack from those same enemies.

Wow, Wow, Wow! It just doesn’t get any better than that! Let’s celebrate this week as the goodness of God surrounds 2022, the year of our Lord, to fight for us and to protect us.

Great word of encouragement. "Crown" always takes me to the passage about white/grey hair is like a crown of splendor - through wisdom and walking with God we are "successful" in that we have learned - often times the hard way - but God is with us guiding us back to him always.
