Monday's Message of Hope

Hello, dear friend
All week I have sensed the Lord had one more nugget for us from Acts 3:19. Let’s take a look:
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord . . . (NKJV)
The author of Acts, the good doctor, Luke, chose an interesting phrase to describe what happens to sins upon repentance and conversion—blotted out. In the original Greek, one of the definitions means to obliterate. Webster’s dictionary sheds even more light on what God does with our confessed sins: to destroy, demolish, eradicate, and annihilate. I really, really like the images that come to mind with these words—total destruction of the sins that hold us in bondage. Yay God!
One other meaning touches the pain often associated with sin: to erase tears. Just thinking of that brings tears to my eyes. What a fiercely, compassionate God we have! His willingness to obliterate our sins and erase our tears to give us times of refreshing humbles me beyond what I can think or imagine. I hope you join me this week in rejoicing in our marvelous Almighty God.
