Monday's Message of Hope

Renewed Strength!
9/14/2020 1:50:00 AM by: Penelope Kaye

Hello, my dear friend!

Let’s take a fresh look at a beloved scripture, Isaiah 40:31:

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Countless Sundays find pastors preaching on this verse. Numerous choirs and worship bands sing songs with this verse. Dozens of books include commentary on this verse.

Though Isaiah wrote it over 2500 years ago, it doesn’t seem to age. And thank God! Because we find ourselves in the midst of desperate, perilous times that cause weariness down to our bones. Yet, we have the prophet’s writings to undergird us.

This waiting comes from the same Hebrew meaning as found in Psalm 27:14, to bind together by twisting; gather together; patiently wait. Often we face insurmountable obstacles that drain the very life from us. But the promise remains: If we wait on the Lord, our strength is renewed. Especially when we wait together. What a wonderful assurance from our Father in heaven!

While you practice the art of waiting this week, the Lord will renew your strength. And then soar with the eagles, run without weariness, and walk without fainting and watch your obstacles turn to dust.

Below are some questions to reflect and/or journal. Feel free to share your thoughts—I would love to hear from you.

  • What areas do you feel weak in right now?
  • What areas can you share your strength with others?
  • What new insight has God given you regarding this verse?

Excited to see your strength be renewed this week!
