Power of the Tongue!

Hello, dear friend

When we hear the phrase “living and walking in the Spirit,” we often think of an action we take to demonstrate our faith and what it means to be spirit-filled. However, our words also have an immeasurable effect on our Christian walk. As a matter of fact, every book in the Bible has a reference to the influence of words, good or bad.

For instance, Proverbs is full of warnings about words. David’s psalms demonstrate the beauty and the danger of words. Jesus demonstrated the power of words with the parable of the mustard seed. Paul’s letters repeatedly caution believers to watch what they say. James compares the damage the tongue can do to a forest fire.

I’m sure we all have memories of times we wish we could take back words spoken in anger, pain, fear or other hurtful situations. But we can’t. And that right there is what makes words so powerful. Once spoken, they will be heard.  The old adage, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” is a lie. Words can be used as knives, swords, arrows, spears, or any other weapon. On the other hand words can be used as honey, healing balms, refreshing water, thanksgiving, and many other positive encouragement. Solomon said it best in Proverbs 18:21:

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit. (NKJV)

I’m ready to let the power of my tongue speak life every single day. I hope you join me.

Since I remember so many of the kind worlds people share with me, I want to give others the gift of kind words and hope - sometimes in person and somethimes with poem God gives me. Please, God, let my mouth share me hope, beauty and love of You!

The first one that made an impression was when Jesus cursed the fig tree-also death and life are in the power of the tongue! Great reminder to us. Union life with Christ means He will convict us when we speak evil. God is working on that now with me. I also have forgiven those who put those words
